What is Pickleball
Pickleball is a fun, exciting sport played with a plastic paddle and a very light, hard plastic ball.
The paddle is 16 inches long by 8 inches wide. The ball is slightly less than 3 inches in diameter and has holes in it.
There are different colored pickleballs. Although there are no color restrictions, The yellow ball is 2.83 inches in diameter with 26 holes, and is preferred for indoor play. The orange ball, is 2.91 inches in diameter with 40 holes, and is preferred for outdoor play.
Remember, any pickleball ball is suitable for use whether indoors or outdoors
The average weight of a pickleball is .88 oz. That’s slightly heavier than a wiffle ball which is .7 oz.
The pickleball court is roughly one-fourth the size of a tennis court. It's 44 feet long and 20 feet wide. Lengthwise, it's divided in half by a tennis-like net. The pickleball net is 36 inches high on the side posts and at least 34 inches high in the center.
Pickleball is characterized by its simple rules and its ease of play. It's fun for people of all ages, body shapes, fitness levels and even for persons with disabilities or limited mobility.
